New Beginnings

Okay, so I'm still behind on my emails. It doesn't help that my spam program screwed up and I opened my Inbox to 1300 unread emails. But I've made my peace with that; I'm not going to scream...really.
As for LA I'm feeling more at home everyday. On my son's first day down here I took him (per request) to the Sciencenter (yes, that's how they spell it, a fact that amuses my son to no end). While there we checked out the center's incubator that was housing several chicken eggs. While we watched on little egg hatched. If you've never seen that happen before let me tell you, it's a magical event. I'm not a big believer in omens but if even I felt that this was a good one. There we were, on the first day of our new life and before our very eyes a new life was beginning. I suggested to my son that we name the chick and his first suggestions were Cuddles and Cutie.
"No," I said, "we should give her a name that has something to do with new beginnings."
Without a moment's hesitation my son said, "Dawn. We'll name her Dawn."
Dawn welcomed us to LA, in my book that means we're off to a good start.
