Deborah LeBlanc Freaked Me Out Last Night

I needed something to read on my road trip so I grabbed fellow GCC member, Deborah LeBlanc’s book, House Divided. Admittedly I didn’t know much about Deborah beforehand. For instance I didn’t know that she was a trained treateur (Cajun Healer) a licensed death scene investigator and an active member of two national paranormal investigation teams. I just figured that this was as good a time as any to get acquainted with her writing.

My mistake was that I started reading it right before bed while staying in a little funky hotel room in the middle of nowhere while my son was fast asleep. Actually I shouldn’t say I read it “right before bed” because I ended up staying awake long after I had intended to just so I could finish “one more chapter.” Of course with every chapter I just got more freaked but Deborah’s writing is so compelling that I found myself unable to put her book down. Her characterizations were right on the money and the emotions involved were raw and real and as for the spooky aspect…well let's just say that if you do end up reading it you should do so with the lights on.

So if you want a good scary read pick up her book and be sure to check out her blog as well. Then if you have trouble going to sleep afterwards go ahead and read one of the Jack scenes from my books. I’m not sure if that’ll calm you down but at least you won’t make the mistake of going to bed without taking your birth control pill.
