I’m Baaack!

Yes, it’s been quite a whirlwind. Mine was an adventure filled with parties, book signings, TV appearances, near misses, heartfelt reunions and lost luggage. But let’s start with the Hamptons:

First, before I get to the party let me tell you about the “near miss.” One of my publicists was driving me around Southhampton showing me the sights when she went through an intersection without checking to see if there was anyone in the crosswalk, which of course there was. We missed this guy by maybe a few feet. Horrified, I looked through the passenger side window in the direction of our near-victim and was about to mouth the words “I’m so sorry!” when I froze. I knew this man. Everybody knows this man.

Yes, that’s right, my publicist nearly killed Rudolph Gulliani. He was a very good sport about the whole thing….I mean, as we all know, this wasn’t the first time his life was almost cut short but still, I felt bad about being in the car that almost brought about the demise of New York’s hero. I guess I could have taken the opportunity to invite him to my party but somehow that felt tacky.

Okay, so now about the aforementioned party. It was wonderful!

I arrived at The Star Room with my wonderful editor, Margaret Marbury and I was wearing a lovely Shoshanna dress. Admittedly it was one of those things that I would never have chosen if I had seen it on the hanger but the thing about Shoshanna is that her clothing is all about fit and I’ll be damned if that woman doesn’t know how to flatter a girl’s figure.

I felt like a cross between a socialite and a porcelain doll which is pretty amazing because I’m neither of those things. Granted, I’m not that dark, but porcelain? I don’t think so.

Shu Uemura’s top make-up artist, Timoria McQueen, was there applying fake eyelashes (did you know they apply them individually now with a tweezers?!) and for me she took the time to do my make-up. I couldn’t have felt more beautiful and the experience was made all the better by the fact that I really liked this gal! She was kind and genuine and just a blast to hang-out with.

Fabulous blogger and “it” girl (seen here in her stunning red dress), Tia Walker also attended. I can’t say enough about this woman. She’s smart, funny and has an energy about her that’s impossible not to get caught up in. She’s one of those people who you know will be able to get what they want out of life and furthermore will be deserving of their good fortune. I highly encourage you to check out her site (there’s more info/pictures from the party on there too!)

Up and coming singer, Samantha Cole also attended my party. The Daily News took my picture with her although I haven’t seen it yet. I’m a little intimidated by the idea of being photographed with Playboy’s Miss November.

Of course there’s a lot more to tell but I have some serious “catching-up” to do with my son so just hold on tight and I’ll slowly catch you up over the next few days! Oh and if you emailed me lately, give me one more week (sorry!).

    Kyra,
You look fabulous!! Love the Shoshanna dress. Tia Walker mentioned that she had a "Passion" drink. What was in it?!!

Ah yes...the Passion drink (there was a Highlights drink too). The sad thing is that I don't remember (did I "forget" to blog about Monday's hangover?) However my publicist is sending me over the recipe and as soon as I get my hands on it I'll share it with all of you.

Thank you Mika! For those of you who don't know, Mika Takeuchi is the CEO and founder of Fashionbliss.com. She is also the one who provided me with the wonderful earrings I wore to the party and a spectacular evening bag. Forgive the plug, but if any of you like to buy designer stuff but don't have the money you should check out her site!

ABOUT KYRA DAVIS

I'm the internationally published author of the Sophie Katz mystery series, and So Much For My Happy Ending. My first Erotic Fiction Trilogy will be released in January 2013.

Aside from that, I'm a single mom; I'm addicted to coffee and True Blood (the show, not the drink). I'm happy with who I am yet I’m always striving to be better; I have more bad hair days than good ones, I love a challenge but I am not fearless, I’m….well…just me.
