It's Still Hard For Me To Grasp

My first book, Sex, Murder And A Double Latte came out in June 2005. I was so excited I could barely see straight! I prayed that it would be the first of many books. I hoped against hope that I was beginning a new career. But I was also scared. I was scared that the book would fail, that no one outside my own circle of friends and family would buy it. Even now I fear that my career as an author is going to disappear in the blink of an eye. And yet when I look at my body of work it seems...substantial. Like maybe I can stop worrying so much. That maybe, just maybe the reason my books have been translated into so many languages and continue to be carried in book stores around the world is because some of you actually LIKE what I do.

For that I really need to thank you. Thank you for giving me license to exhale. I've been holding my breath for a little too long.

Honestly, Kyra, if your books were a stock they would be a safe bet-they're always going to sell! I read your first a few years ago. My best friend and I were in borders and we both picked out books and read them and traded. She bought yours, and I bought some other piece of crap I wish I hadn't. I was in love with the book and hoped you would make it a series! now, a few years down the road i had forgetten that there was supposed to be a second book so i picked my ass up and went to borders and there they were! that was 2 and a half weeks ago and I have since read the 2nd and 3rd Sophie novels, and just finished So much for my happy ending last night. Thank you SO much for your books! Im a single mom as well and cant afford to do anything these days, but $13.95 is affordable and it keeps me busy without minding being stuck in my apartment! last night I actually got a tear in my eye because I've read everything and its still 2 months before lust and lipgloss comes out! I wish you could put a new book out every week...it would be $13.95 less to spend on MY starbucks habit, lol! My drink of right now is the caramel frappucino, by the way. I would love to talk to you sometime!

I'm so glad you both enjoy my books! It's also good to hear that books are still the cheap entertainment of choice for at least some people (seems like a lot of others have ditched books in favor of surfing the internet and whatnot). But be sure to leave room in your budget for the caramel frappuccinos, those are essential for the survival of us single moms.

BTW: when I want to treat myself I get a no-whip, light caramel frappuccino affogato style (that's a floating shot of espresso). It has a much stronger coffee taste so it's not for everyone but I love it.

ABOUT KYRA DAVIS

I'm the internationally published author of the Sophie Katz mystery series, and So Much For My Happy Ending. My first Erotic Fiction Trilogy will be released in January 2013.

Aside from that, I'm a single mom; I'm addicted to coffee and True Blood (the show, not the drink). I'm happy with who I am yet I’m always striving to be better; I have more bad hair days than good ones, I love a challenge but I am not fearless, I’m….well…just me.
