An Explanation

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I've been away for so long. To be honest, the last four weeks have been very difficult for me. There have been some highlights, a New Year's party I attended that was hosted by an NFL player, a play I attended with my son, Obama's victory in Iowa things like that.
But none of that was able to erase the fact that I recently discovered that my son has a chronic condition that could easily affect his quality of life. There are treatments, imperfect as they may be and I hope to find one that works for him. I'm also encouraged by new advancements and research within the pharmaceutical world and I'm convinced that by the time he's an adult the possible treatments will be much better. But right now it's hard. I've fluctuated between being very angry and very depressed. There's a doctor whose approach to all this is unique and apparently fairly effective. After calling his office three times a day and harassing him he has finally agreed to squeeze my son into his overbooked schedule so that too gives me hope. Over all I'm trying to pull myself together so I can be a parent under these circumstances without neglecting everything else. I'm working on that. Some days are easier than others. I'm grateful that I'm a writer. I have an entire make-believe world to lose myself in. I also have Griffith Park, the Observatory, art museums, Disneyland and Starbucks to help me escape and/or cope.
I'm sharing this because I owe many of you an explanation for my late responses to your emails and various other requests. Yeah, I know, I'm always bad about getting back to people, even when things are great. But lately I've been REALLY bad. I'm sorry about that and I ask for your patience and understanding.

I also need you to understand that, when it comes to this issue, I will share what I want to share when I feel ready to share it. Please don't push for answers that I'm not ready to give. Just know that he is going to be okay and so will I (and so will Sophie, my books will be written and published as originally planned). It will just take a little time.

Hello Kyra. I'm so glad to see that you've succeeded to the extent that you did despite your marital difficulties. You are inspirational. I have two sons with issues as well. My older son is ADHD and very bright, my younger son is ADD and learning disabled. School is a constant struggle.

Kyra, I always knew you were very bright, and I think everyone expected great things from you--you didn't dissappoint.

BTY, this is Emily's college friend/roommate. The person your ex hung out with before he fell in love with you. I'm still married. We have three kids now (youngest is a mini-me daughter). I teach English/Humanities part-time at a local University. I'd love to hear more about your son if you are comfortable talking about him. Maybe we can swap stories/advice.

    Best of luck--Linda

ABOUT KYRA DAVIS

I'm the internationally published author of the Sophie Katz mystery series, and So Much For My Happy Ending. My first Erotic Fiction Trilogy will be released in January 2013.

Aside from that, I'm a single mom; I'm addicted to coffee and True Blood (the show, not the drink). I'm happy with who I am yet I’m always striving to be better; I have more bad hair days than good ones, I love a challenge but I am not fearless, I’m….well…just me.
