Books, Parks And Emmys

How many of you have bought the last Sophie book, hmm? If you haven't yet do it now, seriously. I had a little break-down in contract negotiations with my publishing house and I was all set to make this book my last Sophie book for a while but now it looks like we're all back at the negotiating table. Whether or not it goes further than the table is totally up to you. If you can find it in your heart to show Sophie $13.95 worth of love the publishing houses will notice and Sophie will be back in book 4. Hate to bring out the hard sell like this but I thought I should let you all know what's up.

As for the rest of my life...well, LA's kind of crazy. I'm cool with that because I'm kind of crazy too. Still, it cracks me up how EVERYTHING here is named after some dead celebrity. When I book a flight I fly out of the Bob Hope airport. When I want to take my son to a park where I can also work-out I take him to Johnny Carson's Memorial Park. There is actually a public school here called Walt Disney Elementary. Thank God my son doesn't go there. I would never be able to look my N. CA friends in the eye and tell them that my son is quite literally getting a Mickey Mouse education.

Speaking of my son, he's having a bit of a challenging time settling into his new school. So hard that they took him out of his normal 3rd grade classroom, put him through some testing and then stuck him in a 3rd, 4th, 5th grade class where he could learn at both grade level or ahead when he needed to. That seems to be working (although it's still early). When I picked him up yesterday he came running out to me and said. "Mom! Mom! Today my teacher taught us something that I didn't even know before! Isn't that cool?"

It's kind of sad that this is a novelty for him but hey, as long as he's happy.

As for me....guess who will be attending the Emmys in two weeks? That's right baby, I've really gone Hollywood now! I promise to figure out how to use my new digital camera before then so I can post the pictures. Gotta get those paparazzi-shots!
