It's not just a love-hate thing. It's actually emotionally abusive/condescending. I'm all into the dominant man character but if he's demeaning or talking-down to the female lead...well, fuck him(and NOT literally!) :-Pkyradavishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11564245025938264405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10992888.post-34432290401847197472013-01-16T12:35:40.055-08:002013-01-16T12:35:40.055-08:00I'm so looking forward to reading this! One of my big concerns with erotic fiction (and some mainstream romance) is exactly what you describe: Jerky guys who dominate naive women, only to find that, lo and behold, her wide-eyed innocence has made him a better man. It sounds too close for comfort to the arguments abusers use to justify their actions (i.e., "You made me do this," "If you would just do x,y,z, then I wouldn't get so angry", etc. Basically blaming their victims for NOT making them better.) And while I love me some Elizabeth and Darcy, I also want to read about people with real-world issues and complications. azusmomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08833120044345423052noreply@blogger.com
